Today it pays to be cautious when you're out. Many crime are due to criminals spotting a quick opportunity - they want to act fast and run away. So make it harder for them, and make sure you're not their next victim.
10 smart ways to stay safer when u are ait and about.
1) Do not text and walk
Wandering along with you phone in ur hand makes u more vulnerable. You cannot concentrate on your surrounding, plus ur phone is in your hand and your bag is open making them easier to steal. Keep the texting and tweeting for indoors.
2) Headphones off
Music makes it impossible to hear someone sneak up on you. Keep your eyes and your ears open at all the times and be alert to anyone suspicious.
3) Book your taxi
Saving cash is not your priority when getting home at night. Never walk or accept lifts from strangers. Call a trusted taxi and arrive home safe.
4) Park near the door
Park as close as u can to your destination and take note of where that is, so you vmcan find your car easily again.
5) Key emergency number into your phone
Call your patner, friends or family to let them know when you are leaving your destination and when you expect to arrive at your next one. Call the police immediately to report a crime.
6) Your car keys can be a weapon
So you can umbrella, handbags, a pen or any other sharp object. Make sure you carry your weapon in your hand - that is no time to be looking through your handbag.
7) It's OK to say no
You do jot have to get into the lift alone with a stranger just to be polite. In today's world, no decent man will objects if you politely decline and wait for the next lift, or others to join you.
8) Dress for defence
Save the high heels and tight skirt for your party. Dress in clothes that give u the freedom to move, when walking to and from your destination. Large statement jewellery may attract unwanted attention.
9) Car safety
Avoid leaving your handbag, phone or wallet in visible places in your car, like the front site or your dashboard, and lock your doors at all the times. Most car thieves strike when your vehicle is stooped at an intersection, so do not give them added incentive.
10) Self defense is your best friend
Find a class in your area and learn the basics that can make the difference between life and death.
And if that happens. ....
...........hihi....
Before leaving home instill to read this dua
Recite:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
"I depart with Allah's name, relying on Him. It is Allah who saves us from sins with His guidance (the ability to do so)."
(Tirmidhi)
It is stated in the hadith that if a person recites the above dua and departs then there is an (unseen) procalamation that his need will be fullfilled and that he will be protected from any harm or injury. On hearing this dua, the Satan goes away from the place and refrains from troubling the reciting person.
(Tirmidhi)
Also look towards the sky and recite:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَضِلَّ أَوْ أُضَّلَّ أَوْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ أَوْ أَجْهَلَ أَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَىَّ
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from misleading or being misled or oppressing or being oppressed or from being ignorant or bearing the result of ignorance".
(Mishkat)
Wallahu a’lam bish-shawabi.
